Some photos I have taken - unedited.

What I tried to capture in these photos were surroundings. Such as the brick wall. This was just an experiment to get under exposed photos outdoors instead of indoors with the black wall.

Unedited Examples of Photos

This photo is placed on the left third, the object of the hammer is intending to mean that she is 'dangerous'
In this photo, you can see the cracked face. The 'cracked' face is intending to mean that you need to be cautious around people because they could be dangerous. Although she seems vunerable on the outside, she may be dangerous on the inside.

I did take some photos for my artwork this time around except I am not completely happy with the photographs. The colours work together with the contrast of the face ( I used slip and white paint to get it completely cracking), the yellow of the tape and the earmuffs against the black background.

I will not be using the photos in my final artwork but instead as experiments.

Adjusting the final artwork

2 of my boards without the full frames. I worked out compositions for them both and have glued them down. They are in a rectangular shape.

(if you click on the image, it becomes bigger) You will see how i have had to use the small stick like pieces to fill in the gaps. I need to create very small pieces now when I am finishing up my artwork to fill in the small gaps.
The boards are off the edge but I have to cut them with a saw so the frames will fit.
In this composition, there are combinations of big boards, square boards, rectangular boards that are cut in half and quaters and also small strips.
This was when I was figuring out the compositions. After many hours I finally fitted them altogether and glued it after i put the frames on the bottom to lift the artwork (the wood on the right)

Both of the artworks together.

My artwork coming together ...

Here is an example of what I will be doing for my artwork. I have to work out different compositions for the cut boards to fit in. Some boards are not been cut and just kept their size but some have been cut in half, in quaters and into small stick like pieces. This was done so that I would be able to somehow fit them altogether. I intend to make at least 3 big boards like this.

Photos

Here are some of the examples of the photographs I first took. I was experimenting with light and the camera and the wide angle lens although these photos were not taken with the wide angle.

My favourite photos are the ones of the eyes and the ones where you can see the crackles on his face most clearer. This is because it justifies how someone can look dangerous on the outside and how they put up a wall to protect themselves. But after all, we are human.
