Exposure or vulnerability to harm or risk
Able or likely to cause harm or injury.

Erik Sommer

I found this artist and his artworks stood out to me because of the layers and textures of the cracks in his artworks. Although he uses cement - I could use slip.

"I have always been attracted to gritty, peeling, crackly textures, and found that by mixing cement with oils and acrylics and other industrial materials I can recreate, speed up and control the physical aging process. My work is about the passing of time, but also the preservation of this passing as a reflection on mortality. I try to search for the beauty in such diminished materials."

My Experiments

Now experimenting with caution tape that I bought from bunnings. I have been sticking it onto my boards with binder then heat gunning over the top, gessing, layering, crackle mediuming etc. to add texture.
I would like to explore more in using crackle medium and also perhaps finding text to go alongside the tape.

Once all my experiments are almost completed I will chop the best parts out of them and stick them together on a big framed board. Under this I will then place my best photos.

Photos

I would like to have another photo shoot although I have already had 3
All shoots I have used some kind of face paint either white paint or the slip
I have decided to use both at the same time. The objects I will use are the yellow earmuffs and get tools (heavy) and wrap the caution tape around them. I would like the emotions on the subjects face to be fierce and 'dangerous.'

here's some examples of the photos I have taken...

Developing my idea

Now that I have thought about my idea more I have come to a conclusion of my artwork.
Since I chose to do the theme of "Caution" I have realised it is more to do with the dangerousness of one's self. This implying the theme of caution. We long for protection but as human's do not want to be touched. This topic contrasts with Fragile because they still reflect a human's natural being but are directly opposite from eachother. One being fragile as if people are brittle and as if they cannot be dropped because they are easily hurt and caution reflects more of how people are dangerous, not so much brittle or sensative but protective and full of defense.
